3 · How To Measure — lay the trouser flat, smooth out wrinkles, do not stretch the fabric

A½ Waist. Across the top of the waistband, edge to edge, button fastened.

B½ Hip. Across the widest point, roughly 20 cm below the waistband.

C½ Thigh. Straight across the leg, 2.5 cm below the crotch seam.

D½ Knee. Straight across the leg at the mid-knee point.

E½ Hem. Straight across the leg opening at the bottom edge.

FInseam. Crotch seam straight down the inside leg to the hem.

GFront rise. Crotch seam up to the top of the waistband at centre front.

—Outseam. Top of waistband straight down the side seam to the hem.

Cargo pocket standard: our house cargo pocket is 19 cm wide × 21 cm deep with a 3.5 cm bellows and a hook-and-loop flap, set with the top edge roughly 12 cm below the hip line. Width, depth, bellows, closure type and position are all changeable — send the dimensions you want and we pattern to them. Leg length: regular inside leg is shown; short (−5 cm) and long (+5 cm) runs are available on request.

Women's field and safari trousers, cut on a separate block — not a scaled-down men's pattern. Hip-to-waist ratio, rise and thigh shaping all differ, which is why a women's cargo built off a men's pattern fits badly no matter how the label reads.

3 · Fit Notes For Women's Cargo

1Rise is the make-or-break. Tell us mid or high rise — the same waist measurement fits completely differently at each, and it is the most common reason a women's cargo gets returned.

2Hip-to-waist drop is larger. Our women's block runs a bigger difference between waist and hip than the men's; scaling a men's pattern down gapes at the back waist.

3Cargo pockets sit differently. On the women's block the pocket is set slightly higher and narrower so it does not widen the thigh line.

4Stretch changes the grade. If you specify an elastane content we tighten the body measurements — tell us at tech-pack stage, not after the sample.

These figures are our house block, not a fixed standard. Every measurement on both pages can be regraded to your own specification. Send us your existing size chart or a reference garment that fits your customers and we will match it exactly, then confirm the graded set on the sample before bulk. For trousers we strongly recommend a fit sample in at least three sizes — small, middle and large — because grading errors show up at the ends of the run, not in the middle.
