Sun is the dominant load, not cold. An angler is exposed for eight hours with water reflecting light back up from underneath. That is why serious fishing shirts are long-sleeved in hot weather — coverage beats bare skin, and it is why collars, hoods and hand coverage appear on garments that would otherwise be short-sleeved. If you want a tested UPF figure on the label, that is a laboratory test on the specific fabric and it has to be commissioned; we will not print a rating that has not been measured.

Salt destroys hardware long before it touches the cloth. In saltwater programmes the first failure is almost always a zip or a snap, not a seam. Specify corrosion-resistant hardware deliberately, keep metal-to-metal contact to a minimum, and put a rinse instruction on the care label. A garment that fails in one season because of a $0.40 component is the most expensive saving in the category.

Drying speed beats insulation. Anglers get wet as a matter of routine rather than as an accident. A fabric that holds water is heavy, cold and slow, so the base and mid layers are chosen for how quickly they release moisture rather than for warmth.

Camouflage is mostly irrelevant, and print freedom replaces it. Fish are not reading your pattern from above the surface. That frees the whole range for brand colour, sublimated artwork and species graphics in a way hunting apparel never allows — which for a young brand is an advantage, not a gap.

The wading jacket. The failure is never the main body — it is the openings. Water runs down a sleeve and enters at the cuff when an arm is raised, so the cuff needs to close properly rather than decoratively. The hem needs to sit above the waterline the garment is intended for, and a jacket cut long for warmth is the wrong garment for wading. Membrane and taped seams here are the same construction we build for waterfowl, where sustained water contact is also the defining condition.

The fishing shirt. The whole design problem is ventilation without losing coverage. That means vented back yokes and underarm panels placed against where the body actually produces heat, roll-up sleeves with a tab that genuinely holds, and a collar that can be turned up against the sun. Fabric weight is a comfort decision more than a durability one.

The vest. A loaded fishing vest carries weight high on the body, and unless the shoulder yoke spreads that load it becomes uncomfortable within an hour. Pockets need to be reachable seated and workable with wet hands — which means larger pulls and openings than a dry-land garment. This is an adaptation of the shooting-vest platform we already build in volume, which is why it is the most straightforward of the three for us to develop.

We have no fishing styles in stock and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we have is twelve years of building waterproof, membrane-laminated, taped-seam outerwear and a fabric library that already contains most of what a fishing range needs.

That makes us a sensible partner for a brand developing its own range from a design or a reference garment, and a poor one for a buyer who wants to pick finished styles from a catalogue this week. If you are the second kind of buyer, say so and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth your time.

Development runs the same way as everything else here: sampling in 7 to 10 working days, bulk in 28 to 35 days from sample approval, minimum 30 pieces per style. Sun-protection and colourfastness figures can be verified through accredited laboratories at your cost when a claim needs to appear on the label.
